SchoolCricketLeague ("we," "our," or "the League") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our participants and their guardians. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your data in strict compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

1. Information We Collect

To effectively organize the league and manage match dynamics, we collect the following personal information during registration:

• Parent / Guardian Information: Full Name, Email Address, and WhatsApp Number (Primary Contact).
• Player / Child Information: Full Name, Date of Birth (used strictly to assign players to correct U9, U11, or U13 age-group brackets), School, Preferred Playing Role, and Clothing/Shirt Size.

2. Purpose of Data Processing

We process your personal information strictly for operational and league-related purposes, including:

• Verifying player eligibility for specific age divisions.
• Communicating vital match schedules, fixture updates, and venue changes directly to parents via WhatsApp and Email.
• Procuring custom-sized sublimated match jerseys and kits from apparel manufacturers.
• Displaying individual player statistics and profiles on our secure, digital match-tracking platform.

3. Child Privacy & Safeguarding

Because our league exclusively serves primary school learners under the age of 18, we treat child data with the highest level of security:

• We will never collect or process a minor’s information without the explicit digital consent of their parent or legal guardian during registration.
• Publicly visible digital player profiles will only feature the child’s first name, last initial, team, and match statistics to protect their real-world identity.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third-party marketing companies. Your data is only shared with trusted service providers necessary to run the league, under strict confidentiality agreements:

• Host Schools & Venues: Shared only as aggregated, anonymized numbers for security and crowd management.
• Apparel Manufacturers: Shared solely as a list of first names/squads and corresponding shirt sizes for kit production.
• Digital Scoring Apps: Player names and roles are uploaded to our secure scoring system to track live match data.

5. Data Security and Retention

• Your data is stored securely using modern encryption standards to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
• We only retain personal information for as long as your child is actively participating in the league. Historical match statistics may be kept for archive records unless a formal deletion request is made.

6. Your Legal Rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA, parents and guardians have the absolute right to:

• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about their family.
• Request corrections or updates to any inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Object to the processing of their data or request the permanent deletion of their profile from our active systems (which may result in withdrawal from the league due to operational necessity).
